Kori has been involved in gymnastics and cheerleading since the age of 5. She has been the coach of the award-winning Costa Mesa High School cheer squad for the past 20 years and holds all of the safety certifications from AACCA and NFHS, among many other health and safety certifications. She graduated from California State University in Long Beach with a degree in Speech Communications.
Kori is also the Head STUNT Coach at Hope International University in Fullerton, CA. Kori started the STUNT program in 2021 and in the first year in program history ranked 3rd at NAIA college nationals in the 21/22 school year.
Kori and her team have been featured on the ABC news program- Nightline, 60 minutes Australia, CNN, and ESPN. She has written and been interviewed for several articles in the leading cheer publications and was a featured writer for the Daily Pilot (LA Times) on Cheer related stories. Kori has also served on many non-profit boards, such as Costa Mesa United (youth sports council) an advisory board member for Costa Mesa Pop Warner football and cheer and entertainment chair for SGK race for the cure.
She also has been a speaker at cheer coach conferences throughout California including a keynote speaker for Varsity Brands and Concordia University Athletic Conference. Kori has judged numerous cheerleading competitions including College STUNT games and is a CLUB STUNT tournament director for USA Cheer.
Kori is a preferred tryout judge with Spirit Event Coordinators. She has developed and written the Newport- Mesa Unified School Districts policy on cheer safety and the athletic emergency policy and plans. Kori has also served on the C.I.F advisory board that helped cheer become a recognized sport in the state of California.
Kori has been awarded Cheer Advisor for Coach of the Year in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2020 and a finalist in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 ( GSSA, SITA, CheerPROS, Varsity Brands, WCC, Cheercoach.net, and City of Costa Mesa) as well as community leader of the year and the daily pilots top 103 for 4 years.
Coach Kori Johnson
Jason joined the CMHS Cheer program back in 2014. Jason cheered at the collegiate and all-star levels winning Worlds back in 2013. He also cheered professionally for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Jason also is an Instructor for UCA and is a part of their Core Staff where he works camps and clinics throughout the Nation. He won the Veteran of the Year for UCA in 2018. Jason was promoted to Head instructor and loves teaching skills and inspiring athletes throughout the nation and the world. Jason is an events manager for Varsity and Varsity All-Star. You might recognize him from UCA media!
Jason has been a vital success to our Comp Blacks victories- 3 NHSCC titles and numerous medaling in Florida as well as all 4 CIF titles and all STUNT league championships!
Jason has also coached several other sports at CMHS and is a favorite on campus to all students. Jason coaches the "boys" at the Gritiron football game!
He is currently a member of the CMHS football coaching staff as well.
Toni came to CMHS cheer in 2018 starting with being head coach of our middle school program. During her 2 years coaching middle school , Toni lead the teams to winning 2 USA National Titles. In 2020 Toni became the Comp Green head coach and coached them to another USA National Title. Toni became varsity coach in 2021 and has helped them win the NHSCC title in 2021 as well as CIF and CIF state in 2022.
Toni also coached the 2022 STUNT team to an undefeated season and league champions.
Toni graduated from Concordia University with a degree in Psychology and was on the College STUNT team and helped lead them to numerous victories and helped start the STUNT program at CUI.

Italy joined our coaching staff for the 22/23 season.
Italy is a colligate athlete on the Hope International Universities STUNT team, where she is a core member since the program start and helped the team and their 3rd place finish at the NAIA College Championships.
Italy was also a member of the NHSCC championship team at Brea- Olinda High School. At BOHS she also earned a CIF title and many regional and state titles.
Italy is a Kinesiology major and is a fitness expert.
Coach Avery Wagner
Coach Dali is a former member of the award winning CMHS cheer and STUNT teams. Winning 3 white jackets, 2 CIF tiles and many more recognitions. She is also on the WORLDS Level 6 COED NT team for South Coast Cheer.
